§ Mr. Greville Jannerasked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether, in view of the conclusions of the British Standards Institution regarding the provision of child-resistant containers, he will now introduce legislation requiring poisonous medicines to be sold only in such containers.
§ Mr. AlisonThe conclusions of the British Standards Institution provide only drafts for the development of tests for child-resistant containers. It is still premature to consider the introduction of legislation. The Medicines Commission recently decided to set up a working party to consider matters concerned with the presentation of medicines in so far as they might affect the safety of children and this will include consideration of the British Standards Institution's drafts.
