asked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) if he will consider taking the necessary steps to exercise legal control over labour-only subcontracting in the construction industry;

(2) if he will now seek powers to assert control over labour-only sub-contracting in the construction industry.

Mr. Channon

As I told the House on 18th May, the Government would be looking urgently at self-employment in the industry and discussing it with both sides of the industry.
