HC Deb 18 June 1973 vol 858 cc46-7W
Mr. Ian Campbell

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the average increase in percentage terms of the rent fixed by each of the rent assessment committees compared with the rent at time of application to the rent officer for each of the last three years.

Mr. Gordon Campbell

Information about average increases in rents is not readily available for all areas separately, but the following table shows the information for Scotland as a whole. Rent assessment committee determinations in 1970, 1971 and 1972 represented 11 per cent., 5 per cent. and 5 per cent. respectively of cases determined by rent officers.

state the number of cases where the final assessment was greater than the rent proposed by the rent officer.
