HL Deb 25 July 1973 vol 344 cc1927-8WA
THE EARL OF BESSBOROUGH

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will make an announcement about the latest report of the Top Salaries Review Body.

THE LORD PRIVY SEAL (LORD WINDLESHAM)

The Review Body's Second interim Report is published to-day as a Command Paper. Copies are available in the Printed Paper Office. The Report recommends increases of £250 p.a. in the salaries of Chairmen and full-time members of nationalised industry boards, senior grades in the Higher Civil Service, senior officers of the Armed Forces and those members of the Judiciary included within their terms of reference. The increases will be payable from April 1, 1973, or, where appropriate, twelve months after the date of the last increase. The individual salary increases recommended by the Review Body will range from 0.9 per cent. to 3 per cent. and are consistent with the Pay Code.

The Government are most grateful to Lord Boyle and his colleagues for their work in preparing the Report and are ready to accept the recommendations.

House adjourned at half-past seven o'clock.
