HL Deb 25 July 1973 vol 344 cc1925-6WA
LORD HYLTON

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What is their reaction to the statement dated June, 1973, by the London Boroughs Association recommending security of tenure for furnished tenants, except those to whom an owner-occupier lets part of his own accommodation; and whether they will introduce legislation on this matter when implementing the proposals in the White Paper Better Homes—the Next Priorities.

BARONESS YOUNG

The Government have carefully considered the report prepared by the London Boroughs Association and the recommendation that an extension of security for furnished tenants would be desirable. It does not, however, agree with the conclusions of the report and therefore has no plans for legislation on this topic.
