HL Deb 25 July 1973 vol 344 c1925WA
LORD GARNSWORTHY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they can state the reasons why Chichester has not been recommended for parish council status by the Local Government Boundary Commission for England in their Report No. 3.

BARONESS YOUNG

The Commission considered applications for successor parish status against the guidelines as a whole; these are printed in full at paragraph 3 of the Commission's Report No. 3. The Commission have informed my right honourable friend the Secretary of State for the Environment that in their opinion Chichester did not satisfy the criteria in the guidelines, and they accordingly did not recommend that a successor parish be established in this instance.
