§ Mr. Hall-Davis
asked the Prime Minister whether he will make an announcement about the latest report of the Top Salaries Review Body.
§ The Prime Minister
The review body's second interim report is published today as a Command Paper. Copies are available in the Vote Office. The report recommends increases of £250 per annum in the salaries of chairmen and full-time members of nationalised industry boards, senior grades in the Higher Civil Service, senior officers of the Armed Forces and those members of the judiciary included within its terms of reference. The increases will be payable from 1st April 1973 or, where appropriate, 12 months after the date of the last increase. The individual salary increases recommended by the review body will range from 0.9 per cent. to 3 per cent. and are consistent with the pay code.
The Government are most grateful to Lord Boyle and his colleagues for their work in preparing the report and are ready to accept the recommendations.
