HC Deb 24 July 1973 vol 860 cc426-31W
48. Mr. Ashton

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will introduce legislation to amend the age limit qualification for rent rebates in furnished tenancies from 30 years to 18 years.

Mr. Eyre

Under existing legislation, any person whom a local authority consider would suffer hardship without an allowance can be granted one irrespective of age on the basis of guidance by the Secretary of State. Such guidance has already been given to local authorities.

56. Mr. David Steel

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what was the number of claimants claiming rate rebate for each year since 1967.

Mr. Graham Page

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer given to his similar Question on 23rd July 1973.

Mr. Stallard

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will show in table form the amount of rent allowance or rebate payable to (1) a single person with no dependent children, (2) a married couple with no dependent children, (3) a married couple or single parent with one child, (4) a married couple or single parent with two children, (5) a married couple or single parent with three children, at rent intervals of £2, ranging from £3 to £20, and at income intervals of £5, ranging from £15 to £60, for furnished and unfurnished accommodation.

Mr. Eyre
