asked the Minister of State for Defence whether he will undertake a study into compassionate leave facilities for Service personnel serving away from home; and whether he will make a statement.

Common regulations for the granting of compassionate leave with travel at public expense apply to the three Services. The regulations are reviewed regularly and were last reissued, or amended, as recently as May 1972. I have no evidence to indicate that a further general review is justified.
