Mr. Judd

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what action he is taking to evaluate evidence linking exposure to exhaust fumes with increased levels of lead in the blood; and whether he will make a statement with particular administrative areas are given in Local Housing Statistics Nos. 10, 14 and 18. Following is the information:

reference to increasing traffic flows and transport policy in urban areas.

I am advised by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Social Services that the research done so far has not indicated any risk to human health. Further research is in progress and the results will be taken into consideration with other environmental factors in urban transport planning.
