Mr. Norman Lamont

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry (1) what is the value of United Kingdom exports to South American countries and African countries, excluding South Africa, in each of the last five years;

(2) what has been the value of the United Kingdom's trade with South Africa in each of the last five yaers.

Information is given in Table 9 of Volume I of the Annual Statements of Trade for 1968 and 1969, Table 1 of Volume IV of the Annual Statements of Trade for 1970 and 1971 and the December 1972 issue of the Overseas Trade Statistics of the United Kingdom. The figures in the Annual Statements for 1968 and 1969 do not take account of revised estimates for trade by parcel post; however the amounts involved are very small.
