HC Deb 24 July 1973 vol 860 c509W
Mr. Leadbitter

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his latest estimate of Great Britain's contribution to the Common Agricultural Fund for the first full year of EEC membership.

Mr. Patrick Jenkin

On the basis of the original community budget for 1973 the United Kingdom's net contribution to the FEOGA Guarantee and Guidance Section's expenditure was estimated at about £70 million. The supplementary budget approved yesterday by the Council of Ministers will give rise to an increase in the United Kingdom's gross contribution of about £30 million on account of the FEOGA guarantee section but there will be offsetting United Kingdom receipts, notably from FEOGA expenditure on butter subsidies and monetary compensatory amounts.
