HC Deb 24 July 1973 vol 860 c436W
Mr. David Walder

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many casualties, and in which categories, have occurred on the Clitheroe-Whalley bypass since its inception; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peyton

Following are the figures for the period from opening on 4th January 1971 to 31st May 1973:

Fatal injuries 4
Serious injuries 4
Slight injuries 31

This represents approximately 0.6 casualties per million vehicle miles.

The corresponding figure for all rural "A" roads in Great Britain in 1972 was 1.6.
