HC Deb 24 July 1973 vol 860 cc475-6W
Mr. Freeson

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will now recommend the removal of the import levy on butter imported into the United Kingdom from non-EEC countries.

Mr. Anthony Stodart

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply which I gave to the hon. Member for Durham (Mr. Mark Hughes) on 28th June.

Mr. Clark Hutchison

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what level of import duty or levy is now payable on butter imported into the United Kingdom from outside the EEC.

Mr. Anthony Stodart

After applying the monetary compensatory amounts, the present rate of levy applied to imports of butter from New Zealand under Protocol 18 is nil. From other countries outside the Community it is £165.55 per ton.
