590 establishments in manufacturing industry were closed down in Great Britain. In 430 of these cases sufficient warning was given to enable advance arrangements to obtain alternative employment for the redundant workpeople.
§ Mr. O'Halloranasked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will list the number of people, male and female, who were declared redundant during 1972 in Greater London industries, specifying, in 143W particular, the labour fall-out in the building and construction industry.
§ Mr. Chichester-ClarkThe total number of people recorded by my Department as due to become redundant in the Greater London Council area in manufacturing industry in 1972 was 27, 780, and in construction 710. Separate male and female figures are not available.
