asked the Secretary of State for the Environment when he expects the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Centre at Swansea to attain its planned five-day turn-round time in dealing with provisional driving licence applications.

Mr. Peyton

The centre is now processing 95 per cent. of current first applications within six working days, and 98 per cent. within 10 days. I hope it will soon reach the planned standard of 98 per cent. within five working days.
