In how many cases the maximum penalty of ten years' imprisonment has been imposed under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1965 from the date that the Act came into force to the date of its repeal; and what drugs were involved in each case.
VISCOUNT COLVILLE OF CULROSSBetween 1965 and 1971 two persons were sentenced under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1965 to 10 years imprisonment. The first, in 1967, was for supplying heroin. The second, in 1969, was for supplying cannabis resin and possessing cannabis resin, but on appeal the sentence of 10 years imprisonment concurrent on each count was reduced to 7 years concurrent on each count. Figures for 1972 are not yet available.
