§ Mr. Topeasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what steps are being taken to reduce the outflow of trained teachers from colleges of education.
§ Mr. St. John-StevasColleges and polytechnic departments of education have been asked to reduce the intake of non-graduate students to courses of initial training from an estimated 36,000 in 1973–74 to 32,000 in 1974–75. Further adjustments will be required in subsequent years to meet the teacher supply policy announced in the recent White Paper.
