Mr. Ashley

asked the Attorney-General if he will introduce legislation to provide that a mother who is granted the legal custody of her children has the sole right to occupy the matrimonial home pending a further judgment.

The Attorney-General

This is a matter for the courts which already have certain powers to regulate, and in some cases terminate, rights of occupation of the matrimonial home. The Law Commission is at present examining the whole question of rights of occupation and hopes to report by the end of the year.
