§ Mr. Joel Barnettasked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a statement on the discussions he has had on the assistance to be given from the EEC social fund in respect of retraining and resettling redundant textile workers, following the agreement in principle by the Council of Ministers that such assistance should be made available.
§ Mr. Chichester-ClarkUnited Kingdom officials were involved in the preparation of the text of the decision providing for assistance to be made available from the fund which was agreed by the council in December 1972. It provides that the Social Fund may meet up to half the cost of Government-supported schemes for re-72W training and resettling textile workers. I will send the hon. Gentleman a copy of the text.
