§ Mr. ChannonFollowing the third Conference of the Countryside in 1970 and the consequent setting up of the Nugent Committee to look into land holdings of the Ministry of Defence, some 16 miles of coastline land involving the whole or parts of 18 defence establishments have been or are being disposed of as an immediate measure. The report of the committee may be expected in the near future.
