§ 45. Mr. Rees-Daviesasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will instruct the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police to give instructions that all officers taking oral statements from suspects and accused persons will ensure that such statements are signed on each page in the officer's notebook as a true record and that oral statements will not be otherwise included except in medical cases where a doctor is present.
§ Mr. CarlisleCurrent police practice in this respect, which is based on the guidance contained in the Judges' Rules and Administrative Directions' to the police, will be considered in connection with the Criminal Law Revision Committee's report on the law relating to evidence.
