As part of the continuing process of dispersing Government work from London, which began with the last major initiative in May 1963, progress continued during the year ending 30th September 1972 on the dispersal of the work of 24 offices of Government Departments. As a result, 1,730 posts were dispersed from London during that year. This figure does not include posts set up in new organisations sited outside London under Government office location policies.
