Mr. Gwynoro Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Employment (1) what was the total number of jobs created in the service sector in each of the economic planning regions since 1st January 1970; and what percentage of total new employment created this was in each case;

(2) how many new jobs were created in Wales in 1970, 1971 and 1972 in the service sector; and what percentage this was of the total number of jobs created.

Precise information about jobs created is not available but an indication of net annual changes can be obtained by comparing the levels of the mid-year employment estimates the latest of which, for service industries, relate to June 1971. Following is the available information:
