HC Deb 14 February 1973 vol 850 cc335-6W
39. Mr. Farr

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment why he thought it necessary to hold a public inquiry into a proposed new town at Catthorpe, Leicestershire, in view of the unanimous decisions of local planning authorities against the project.

Mr. Rippon

Because of the size of the proposed development, and the fact that the appellant and the local planning authorities concerned, who have a statutory right to be heard, requested one.

Mr. Farr

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what has been the cost to public funds to date of the public inquiry into a proposed town at Catthorpe, Leicestershire.

Mr. Rippon

The cost to my Department of the time and expenses of the inspector and of the assessor during this inquiry amounts to about £1,200.
