§ 33. Mr. Pagetasked the Attorney-General if he will instruct the Director of Public Prosecutions not in ordinary circumstances to prosecute a motorist for offences arising out of an accident in which he or she has been seriously injured.
§ The Attorney-GeneralNo. It is for the police to decide, in the light of all the circumstances of the particular case, whether or not to prosecute for offences of this nature. Traffic offences are not included amongst the offences which have to be reported to the Director of Public Prosecutions under the Prosecution of Offences Regulations and those offences are therefore only referred to him when chief constables wish to have his advice.
