§ Mr. Wolrige-Gordonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland when it is intended to ratify the draft agreement about fishing in the waters around the Faroe Islands.
§ Mr. Gordon CampbellThe agreement was signed on 19th December on behalf of all the countries concerned, and my colleagues and I will lay before Parliament an order giving effect to it, which will allow United Kingdom vessels to take up to 18,000 metric tons of cod and haddock plus unlimited quantities of other demersal fish during 1974, and specify areas which will be closed to trawling in rotation. We have given advance notice to the fishing industry that the order will come into effect on 1st January 1974.
