HC Deb 04 December 1973 vol 865 cc351-2W
Mr. Elystan Morgan

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the average income per head (a) in Cardiganshire, (b) in Wales and (c) in England in the last financial year.

Mr. Nott

Figures for the last financial year are not available. For 1970–71 the figures of income per head of population are :

Cardiganshire 550
Wales 500
England 600

The income figures used in calculating these averages are derived from the Survey of Personal Incomes for 1970–71 and exclude incomes below £420 per annum, and non-taxable receipts, such as certain national insurance benefits.

The population figures used relate to mid-1970 and include all individuals of all ages whether they have an income or not.
