HC Deb 04 December 1973 vol 865 cc326-7W
37. Mr. Jessel

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what was the number of courses of dental treatment undertaken free, or partly free, through the National Health Service in 1969, compared with the latest available annual figure.

Sir K. Joseph

All dental treatment provided through the National Health Service is either wholly or partly free of charge to patients. In England, the numbers of courses and cases of treatment provided under general dental service arrangements were 19,430,000 in 1969 compared with 22,452,000 in 1972 ; of these about 65 per cent. were either entirely free of charge or subject to full or partial remission of charge in 1969 compared with about 61 per cent. in 1972.
