Mr. Norman Lamont

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he has considered the formation of a unit or investment trust specifically for the purpose of allowing Arab investment in Western economies.

Mr. Nott,

pursuant to his reply (OFFICIAL REPORT, 3rd December 1973 ; Vol. 865, c. 275], gave the following information :

As far as the United Kingdom is concerned we welcome most forms of overseas investment, whether from Arab countries or elsewhere.

The City of London offers an attractive range of investment assets and I am confident that it will prove possible to cater for the needs of the oil producers.
