HC Deb 03 December 1973 vol 865 c286W
Mr. Marks

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what was the average price per hundredweight of dried peas in August and November 1973 ; and what was the cause of the change.

Mrs. Fenner

Official statistics are not collected of average prices of dried peas from all sources. For home-grown marrowfat peas, which normally account for some 60 per cent. of our total supplies of dried peas, London market quotations of average prices paid ex-farm in 1973 were :

£ per ton (net weight excluding sacks)
2 weeks ending 29th August 110
Week ending 7th November 155
3 weeks ending 28th November 190

Current prices on our market reflect the shortfall in recent months of world supplies of protein feeds.
