§ Mr. Hardyasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the cost to the Exchequer of subsidies of municipal housing expressed as an amount per council tenant.
§ Mr. ChannonThere are 4.8 million council tenants in England and Wales and the total figure for housing subsidies in 1972–73 was £259 million. To divide one figure by the other to arrive at a figure of subsidy per council tenant would be misleading since subsidies are applied selectively.
