HC Deb 19 April 1973 vol 855 cc182-3W
Mr. Powell

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will publish the most recent figures available which show the average length of stay in this country of doctors qualified outside the British Isles employed in the hospital service.

Sir K. Joseph

Figures are not available showing the average length of stay, up to the present, of such doctors now employed in the hospital service. A study related to overseas—born doctors who left in the mid-1960s suggested an average stay of under four years; I am not aware of any more recent studies.
