§ Mr. Staintonasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the flow of the principal water supply rivers in East Anglia now compared with recent years; what are the similar levels of the major reservoirs; and what assessment he makes of the area's groundwater supplies.
§ Mr. Eldon GriffithsThe Water Resources Board recently reported to me that groundwater levels in East Anglia were below average for February and the flow of the Great Ouse was less than one-third of the average. I am being kept closely in touch with the water supply position. I understand that the levels of major reservoirs are somewhat lower than normal but are not giving any cause for concern.
