§ Mr. Norman Lamontasked the Minister for the Civil Service on what date a decision was reached about the retirement of the Government's Chief Economic Adviser, Sir Donald MacDougall.
§ Mr. Kenneth BakerSir Donald MacDougall reached the normal Civil Service retiring age of 60 in October 1972. He agreed to serve on for a period until a successor could be selected and appointed; my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister announced on 29th March that Sir Kenneth Berrill was to be appointed his successor and would take up the post in the autumn.
