§ Mr. Harold Walkerasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if, having regard to the principles expressed in Put- 400W ting People First, he will withdraw the stipulation that grant approval for the scheme for the A60 overbridge and its approaches at Balby, Doncaster is conditional upon inclusion of the defined subway, and if he will, instead, approve grant if the subway is otherwise provided so as to minimise its effects on private property rights.
§ Mr. SpeedAppropriate provision for pedestrians is an important aspect of putting people first. I am prepared to consider paying grant on any subway proposal which the highway authority, Doncaster County Borough Council, put forward as part of their A60 highway improvement scheme.
