HC Deb 23 October 1972 vol 843 cc205-6W
Mr. Bishop

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science (1) in view of the fact that it is the policy of Her Majesty's Government not to discriminate on grounds of sex, if she will give an assurance that the amount per head expended last year for the teaching of cookery in schools was for each sex;

(2) in view of the fact that it is the policy of Her Majesty's Government not to discriminate on grounds of sex, if she will give an assurance that the amount per head expended last year for the teaching of engineering in schools was similar for each sex.

Mrs. Thatcher

It is for local authorities and others responsible for the running of schools to decide how much to spend on particular subjects and classes. My Department does not gather information about the cost of teaching individual subjects in the schools.
