§ Mr. Kilfedderasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will make a statement on the activities of the Roman Catholic Ex-servicemen's Association in Northern Ireland and its connection with the Irish Republican Army during recent years.
§ Mr. Peter MillsThe Catholic Ex-Servicemen's Association was formed in 1971 with the avowed aim of protecting Catholic areas from sectarian attack. Members of this association have on occasions patrolled in Catholic areas. My hon. Friend will not expect me to comment on any links which an illegal organisation might have with other organisations.
