§ Mr. Norman Lamontasked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a statement about United Kingdom participation in the forthcoming labour force survey to be carried out by member States of the European Economic Community.
§ Mr. Maurice MacmillanMember States of the EEC are carrying out labour force surveys in 1973 addressed to representative samples of households. The surveys are designed to provide estimates of employment and unemployment on a comparable basis throughout the Community. The Government have decided that the United Kingdom will take part. Information will accordingly be sought from a sample of approximately one-half per cent. of all households, but participation will be voluntary.
