§ Mr. Haselhurstasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether, through Her Majesty's Inspectorate, she will increase the amount of advice and training of teachers on the subject of teaching modern languages, to meet the increased need for such teaching.
§ Mr. St. John-StevasHer Majesty's Inspectorate is engaged in an expanding programme of short in-service courses for teachers of modern languages. It has encouraged the establishment at a number of institutions of intensive one-term courses for teachers of French. It also provides advice on the solution of teaching problems through informal contacts with local education authorities, schools and teachers' centres.
