asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what additional magistrates, county court judges, high court judges or judges of the Court of Appeal of Northern Ireland will shortly be appointed.

Two more permanent resident magistrates will be appointed shortly.

There are no immediate proposals to increase the number of county court judges.

The appointment of High Court judges is a matter for my noble Friend the Lord Chancellor, but I understand that an Order in Council will shortly be laid under the Administration of Justice Act, 1968, to appoint an additional puisne judge of the High Court of Northern Ireland.
