§ 56. Mr. John Smithasked the Secretary of State for Scotland why he has not circulated to Scottish Members of Parliament the proposals he has made for the setting up of a parliamentary commissioner for local government.
§ Mr. Gordon CampbellI had thought that this would be premature, since my proposals for a commissioner for local administration may be modified in the light of comments from the local authority associations and other bodies to which they have been sent. I have placed copies of the consultation paper in the Library of the House.
