§ Mr. Thomas Coxasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the present rateable value for each of the inner London boroughs; and what is the comparable figure for 1960.
§ Mr. Graham PageLondon government was reorganised in 1965 and comparative figures are available only where an existing London borough is coterminous with one or more of the former metropolitan boroughs.
The following table compares the figures in such cases:
1972 1960 £ £ City of London 49,784,283 13,488,352 Camden 36,233,298 10,045,423 Hackney 15,093,283 4,608,919 Hammersmith 13,986,072 4,224,167 Islington 20,334,277 6,126,102 Kensington and Chelsea 26,538,306 7,098,765 Lewisham 12,814,290 4,106,416 Southwark 18,904,512 6,177,506 Tower Hamlets 15,120,962 4,354,636 Westminster 114,571,603 31,015,338 The large difference between the two figures in each case is mainly due to the revaluation which was effective from 1st April, 1963.
