HC Deb 25 May 1972 vol 837 c455W
60. Mr. Wolrige-Gordon

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what action he is taking to conserve salmon whose home rivers are in Scotland.

Mr. Gordon Campbell

As a result of the efforts of the governments of the United Kingdom and of the other countries which carefully conserve their home water stocks, the present restrictions on high seas fishing in the North-West and North-East Atlantic were agreed. We shall continue to press for further control.

My proposals for conservation in Scottish waters were set out in the White Paper which I presented to Parliament last November.
