§ Mr. CarlisleThere are 14 women now serving sentences of life imprisonment in England and Wales. The only woman who has served longer than 10 years has been released on licence twice, and has had to be recalled. She served 7½ years before her first release, and has served a further 11½ years in the two periods of recall.
