HC Deb 24 May 1972 vol 837 c371W
44. Mr. Edward Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on his discussions with Glasgow Education Authority regarding the position of selective schools in Glasgow.

Mr. Gordon Campbell

I have discussed with representatives of the authority my request for additional information to enable me to consider its proposals for reorganisation of its selective schools. The authority subsequently submitted for my approval further extensive amendments to its educational provision and transfer schemes. I am still considering these and the earlier proposals, although I have felt obliged to make a default order because of the failure of the authority meantime to implement its transfer scheme as at present approved.
