§ Mr. David Mitchellasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he has studied the joint memorandum on the additional sources of local government revenue submitted to the Government in March; and what reply he has sent to suggestions that an additional motor fuel tax on deliveries to garages is a practical alternative to the points made in the Green Paper on Local Government Finance of July, 1971.

The local authority associations have been told that their proposals will be considered along with the other representations the Government have received and in the light of the consultations which have been taking place on the wide range of issues outlined in the Green Paper on local government finance.
