§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will state the results of his approach to the European Economic Community for a lowering of the proposed 1 per cent. stamp duty on company capitalisation and the ½ per cent. in the case of mergers; and to what extent the implementation of this draft proposal on harmonisation of this duty in Great Britain will raise the revenue return to the Treasury based upon the latest annual company returns.
