§ Mr. James Sillarsasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what recent representations his office has received about the need to develop the potential of Hunterston, especially for green field steel development; and what replies he has given.
§ Mr. Gordon CampbellI have received a number of representations both for and against development at Hunterston. In reply I have drawn attention to my decision on the development plan amendment for the area, to the current negotiations on the ore terminal and to the Government's contribution towards the cost of a feasibility study by the Hunterston Development Company. I have pointed out that any steel development in the first instance is a matter for the British Steel Corporation.
