§ Lord CROOK
asked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether advertisements of second-hand electrical appliances for sale, are in contravention of the Trade Descriptions Act if the wiring of the appliances is in the old and not the new approved wiring colours, as has been suggested by some local inspectors.1432WA
§ THE PARLIAMENTARY UNDERSECRETARY OF STATE, DEPARTMENT or TRADE AND INDUSTRY (THE EARL OF LIMERICK)
Whether a particular advertisement gives rise to an offence under the Trade Descriptions Act 1968 depends on its content. But the sale in the course of business of a second-hand electrical appliance with wrongly coloured flex is certainly contrary to the relevant regulations under the Consumer Protection Act 1961.
House adjourned at twenty-nine minutes before six o'clock.
